The Striking Hour
ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ
Al qaari'ah
The (Day) of Noise and Clamour:
مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ
Mal qaariah
What is the (Day) of Noise and Clamour?
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ
Wa maa adraaka mal qaari'ah
And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is?
يَوۡمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلۡفَرَاشِ ٱلۡمَبۡثُوثِ
Yauma ya koonun naasu kal farashil mabthooth
(It is) a Day whereon men will be like moths scattered about,
وَتَكُونُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ كَٱلۡعِهۡنِ ٱلۡمَنفُوشِ
Wa ta koonul jibalu kal 'ihnil manfoosh
And the mountains will be like carded wool.
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
Fa-amma man thaqulat mawa zeenuh
Then, he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) heavy,
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٖ رَّاضِيَةٖ
Fahuwa fee 'ishatir raadiyah
Will be in a life of good pleasure and satisfaction.
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَفَّتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
Wa amma man khaffat mawa zeenuh
But he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) light,-
فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٞ
Fa-ummuhu haawiyah
Will have his home in a (bottomless) Pit.
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهۡ
Wa maa adraaka maa hiyah
And what will explain to thee what this is?
نَارٌ حَامِيَةُۢ
Naarun hamiyah
(It is) a Fire Blazing fiercely!
Surah Al-Qari'ah is the 101st surah of the Quran with 11 verses. It is a Meccan surah. Below is the full text in Arabic with English translation by Yusuf Ali.
ٱلۡقَارِعَةُTransliteration: Al qaari'ah
Translation (Yusuf Ali): The (Day) of Noise and Clamour:
مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُTransliteration: Mal qaariah
Translation (Yusuf Ali): What is the (Day) of Noise and Clamour?
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُTransliteration: Wa maa adraaka mal qaari'ah
Translation (Yusuf Ali): And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is?
